The craft

Everything is decided
before the colour

You are in Aix for a few days, or your gel has grown out mid-trip, and you do not have a salon here. That is exactly who this page is for: everything below is priced, timed and explained, so you know what you are walking into before you push the door.

A manicure holds or fails on what happens before the colour: cuticles pushed back one by one, the surface smoothed without a bubble, the edge sealed. That preparation is not fussiness: it decides whether your nails last three weeks or start chipping in five days.

We are at 12 rue Victor Leydet, in the historic centre, a two-minute walk from the cours Mirabeau. Walk-ins welcome and English spoken every day: call the number above and we will tell you straight away whether we can fit you in today.

They were looking for
a salon they could trust

Three and a half weeks after the appointment, not one chip and nothing lifting. My hands are in water all day at work, that is my real test.
Charlotte V.American tips
The removal was completely gentle, nothing burning or pulling at any point. Not one split nail afterwards, and they did not cut my length short by default the way it had been done to me before.
Sophie M.Removal and gel
I said straight away that I was scared of ruining my nails again. It is the first time nobody told me I was worrying over nothing. We looked at my nails together before deciding anything.
Marion T.Gel polish
I walked in without an appointment expecting a rushed job. They took their time on the edges and the cuticles, and nobody hurried me even though the salon was busy that Saturday.

The application, step by step

Three of the six steps
come before any colour

Six steps, in this order. The first three happen before anything touches the nail.

We look at your nails

And tell you what they can take.

Cuticles pushed back, surface dusted

Length and shape decided with you.

The nail is degreased and prepped

The invisible step that decides how long it lasts.

The product goes on in thin layers

Cured one by one, never in a single thick coat.

The shape is refined

Then the colour, and the free edge is sealed.

Every edge is checked, one by one

Then oil and cream.

What visitors ask

Four questions,
answered straight

These are the ones we hear most from people who are in Aix for a few days.

Can you take me today

Often yes, and mornings are the quietest. Call the number at the top of this page and we will tell you honestly where we are: you can wait a few minutes or come back later.

Will it last my trip

A gel polish holds for about three weeks, a full set up to four. So yes, comfortably longer than a holiday. And if a nail lifts within 7 days, we redo it free of charge.

Do you speak English

Yes, every day. Tell us what you want in English and we will talk you through what your nails can take before anything is applied.

I want something that photographs well

Then say so before we start. Shape, length and finish all change how hands read in a photo. Bring a picture if you have one, it is easier than words.

Frequently asked

Practical things,
worth knowing

Where are you exactly?

12 rue Victor Leydet, 13100 Aix-en-Provence, in the historic centre, a two-minute walk from the cours Mirabeau.

Do I need an appointment?

No. You are welcome to walk in, and booking online is always possible if you prefer to lock in a time. Mornings before noon are the quietest, and that is when you are most likely to be taken straight away.

Are you open on Monday?

Yes. Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm. Closed on Sunday.

How long does a gel manicure take?

About 20 minutes for a manicure with gel polish, 45 minutes to an hour for a full set with tips. Those times are an estimate to help you plan your day, not a stopwatch.

Gel, acrylic or American tips, what is the difference?

An American tip is a preformed piece glued on and then sculpted: it is the quickest full set, from €43. Gel and acrylic are the two materials of the full sets, at €60 and €55. A sculpted set is built on a form placed under the nail: thinner, more mouldable, longer in the chair. We choose with you when we look at your nails, depending on what they can take and what you want.

Does a full set damage the nails?

Not if it is applied and removed properly, and that is where everything is decided. The product goes on in thin layers, cured one by one, never in a single thick coat. At removal it comes off layer by layer, stopping before your own nail. If you feel heat or discomfort, say so: we stop and change approach.
